Today, Governor Greg Abbott announced that school buildings would remain closed for the rest of the 2019-2020 School year.  He stated that additional information would be coming next week from Education Commissioner Mike Morath on exactly what that means for Texas Schools.

For Perryton ISD, we will continue to provide distance learning for our students and also continue to increase access opportunities for students with limited or no internet connectivity.

The UIL has also announced the cancelation of all sports for the rest of the year.

As we plan for the remainder of the school year, we will be having a couple o online meetings next week.  Tuesday, April 21 at 10:00 am the entire PISD staff will meet online so everyone can get on the same page.  Then, Wednesday evening, April 22 at 5:30 pm we will host a community-wide Facebook Live meeting. CLICK HERE to go to the meeting.

We will continue our Grab & Go food service each day that we would have had school under the original school calendar.  Friday, April 24 and Monday, April 27 were “Snow Days” on that calendar. Since we did not take any days for snow during the year, our PISD staff will be off that day.  That also means no distance learning assignments on those days.

Thank you all for your continued patience and support through these trying times.  We will post additional updates as more information comes out from state leadership.

Have a great day and be safe.

Parents or Perryton ISD,

Though we are apart right now for our health and safety, we at PISD continue to support each other as a community, and right now we must work together to fight COVID-19.  In order to help prevent the spread of COVID-19, PISD will be reaching out to you via email, phone, text message, and social media over the next two weeks to share vitally important guidance.

This guidance is based on what scientists know about how to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and it is our hope that you will continue doing all you can to follow these practices and share them with your friends and family.

Thank you for what you are doing to educate your children at home and all the efforts you’re making to keep your family healthy and safe. We know this is a difficult time. If we stand apart as a community during this stretch and continue following the public health practices we will be sharing over the coming days, we will be back together soon.

Stay well!

James Mireles,

Superintendent, Perryton ISD

 March 27, 2020

Good evening all;

We wanted everyone to know Perryton ISD is open and fully ready to serve our students and community.  School is not closed, but the buildings are.  Throughout the past two weeks you have most likely heard the buzz of hard working teachers and administrators readying for distance learning.  You may have driven through the free lunch line, feeding your children the efforts of our food service staff, fortified with love, friendly waves, and a nutritious meal.  Our support staff may have assisted with handing out chromebooks, building new wi-fi access points, or ensuring every visit is as safe as possible with buildings that are continuously cleaned.  Our staff is preparing to save the day, investing energy in developing ways of instruction that have never been seen before.  Yes, we are heartbroken and disappointed in the current medical crisis, but our teams are prepared to lead our children and community through any challenge to achieve success.

I, along with our teachers and staff, love working with your children and thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives.

Todd White
Assistant Superintendent
Perryton ISD

PISD has wi-fi hot spots for students on the PHS and PJH Parking lots.  CWC has a free guest wi-fi on their parking lot as well.  Additional locations are coming soon.
