New PHS Principal Hired

The Perryton ISD Board of trustees met Tuesday evening for the monthly meeting and approved the hiring of Danny Finch as principal at Perryton High School.  Finch comes to Perryton from Friona where he was Assistant High School Principal for the last two years. Previously, Finch was Principal at Hartley ISD.

Finch also spent over thirteen years as an Ag Teacher in Brownfield and Memphis Texas and Dewey Oklahoma.  A cowboy at heart, Mr. Finch spent over twenty years in the beef cattle industry prior to becoming an educator.

After a three tier interview process, Finch’s strong background in career and technology education as well as campus security separated him from the other candidates.  Superintendent Dr. Tim Little expressed his confidence in Finch. “We’re very eager to have Danny on board. He’s a great fit for our district and I’m looking forward to working with him.”

Finch is set to begin work immediately as he makes preparations for the coming school year.


Other personnel action included promoting Shellie Casey Walker as Cafeteria Director,

Gary Mills was hired as full time teacher, he has been teaching half time.  They renewed the contract of Elaine Calsing and hired Sonia Parra, Sheila Deal and Sandra Woods.

UPDATE: The next regular meeting will be July 17th at 6:00. A Special Meeting will be July 24th at 6:00 to discuss a number of safety improvements  that are in the works.
