There’s more exciting news from the Perryton High School welding program. Four students have earned their AWS (American Welding Society) certification. Edgar Mendoza, Obed Lopez, Alfredo Salas and David Borrunda completed the requirements for the certification on Friday, May 4 at Tulsa Tech in Tulsa Oklahoma.
These four young men are the first to earn this honor through the PHS welding program, now in it’s fourth year. Instructor Andrew Lackey says this certification will give the students a head start as they continue their education at either the Tulsa Welding School or in the welding program at Frank Phillips College.
To earn the certification, welders are judged on a number of difficult welding tasks. These young men will also be able to land welding jobs that can help them continue their education. Congratulations to Edgar, Obed, Alfredo and David. #districtofchoices
