The Perryton ISD Board of Trustees met for a special session at noon on Monday, June 6, 2022. After about an hour and a half, they resumed in open session where Superintendent James Mireles announced these resignations: Adam Jones, PHS Science Teacher; Donita Estes, Wright Elementary Third Grade; Leigh Bicknell, Counselor at Ludi Martin and Perryton Kinder; Cathy McCoy, LPMAEC English; Jessica Slover, PJH English/Coach; Krystal Imrie, PJH Math; Tayten Martin, PJH Choir; Sandra Woods, PJH Computer Applications and Robotics; and Matt Bigham, PJH Theatre.
Next up, the board voted 6-0 to revise the student transfer policy. Board members then voted on thirteen transfer student applications, mentioned only by the last four digits of their student ID number. Eleven of those applications were approved by a 6-0 vote. Two students were rejected each by 2-4 votes.
Mireles then recommended these persons be hired: Jesus Ramirez, Teacher/Coach at PJH; Stacy Smith, Special Ed Teacher, PHS; Tammie Wall, Elementary Teacher; Lizeth Guzman, Elementary Teacher; and Ruth Gonzales, Elementary Teacher. They were approved as a group by a 6-0 vote.
The final item on the agenda was to vote on a board member to replace Tyler Merkel, who resigned last month. Richard Beyea made a motion to select Jesse Trejo, but the motion died for lack of a second. After no other motions were made, Board President Wes Beal stated that the item would be placed on the agenda for the next meeting, June 28. The meeting adjourned.
