About Mr. Mireles

About James Mireles

I attended Panhandle State University and graduated in 1980 with a double major in Psychology and Physical Education with a minor in Political Science. I received my master's degree in education from Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas in 1993. In my 40 years of education, it has lead me as far south as Plainview, Texas and as far north as Garden City, Ks.  I have been a teacher, coach, athletic director, assistant principal, and head principal at different level schools. I have worked in schools from 1A to 6A. I have been a principal at the elementary, middle school, and high school.

Through these years I have developed many skills and my hope is that they will be useful in helping Perryton become the best district it can be. While working in Garden City, Ks the staff and I took a low performing 6A high school and turned it into a national blue ribbon school. I believe that Perryton has the students, staff and administration to make us the best district in region 16 and beyond. I know the community will support us along that journey.  I will be soliciting your support to be a partner in making it happen.

My tenets have always been to do what is best for all students. I am a huge advocate for every student. I am inviting parents to join us in helping educate your child. Parents are a very important ingredient in their child’s success. I am a believer that if you do the right thing, good things happen. I like to lead by building consensus and capacity for any changes that need to happen. Good things are going to happen. I am anxious to set the direction and vision for us.

I realize that there are going to be bumps along the way, but if we are persistent and have the courage to do what is right for the children of Perryton, it will happen. I am excited about starting this new journey in my life and helping Perryton ISD be a shining star in the Top of Texas.
